Cutting-edge tools, experimentation, and learning from each other; these are the unique features of our Digital Marketing hackathon.
CUTTING-EDGE TOOLS, EXPERIMENTATION, LEARNING FROM EACH OTHER
Welcome to the course website of Digital in Action, the Digital Marketing course taught at three schools in Europe and Asia: ESMT Berlin, Universität Basel and MIT Sloan's Asia School Business. The pedagogy is based on Action Learning where students learn by working with companies, engaging with managers to solve real-life business problems. We strongly believe that without Action, there is no learning. There is no learning, without Action. Especially in such a fast-moving field as Digital!
Student-company Scrum Teams
This class-room course stays true to the pedagogy of Learning-by-Doing, but with a unique twist. Instead of having our students go onsite, we ask companies to join us on campus. MBA or Master students will form groups with seasoned practitioners in so-called 'scrum teams'. Each scrum team performs six hacks to strategize the organization's digital marketing strategies. In these mixed student-company teams, the practitioners will share their expertise and experience gained throughout the years, while students with their diverse backgrounds bring in fresh perspectives.
Proven Impact Focus: 70+ companies
Since the first time this course ran in January – March 2018, more than 70 firms from 5 different countries participated in this course. Each participating company generates 20-40 ideas for improving its digital marketing performance. The course does not stop at generating ideas, its format also empowers the scrum teams to organize the time and support for implementation and experimentation.
As we bring companies to learn with students into our classrooms, we create company impact and accelerate student learning at the same time.
Guest Lecturers from Google and other digital experts
To ensure that students and companies learn and practice the most cutting-edge Digital tools, experts from industry are co-creating and delivering the content most relevant to the development of talent and skills allowing everyone to appreciate the multifaceted aspects of creating complex and digitally activated work. By developing talents in this manner, students and firms will be able to respond to the changing digital landscape.
